Internet Safety @ Bishop Gore
Bishop Gore School takes Internet Safety very seriously and our pupils are educated on the subject through PSHE lessons, assemblies, and Coding lessons through the school year.
As the use of digital technology outside of the school as increased tenfold, we are aware that parents and carers may need some guidance on how to keep children safe when using the internet.

Reporting Concerns
If you are worried about your child and their use of the internet then the Report Harmful Content website (funded by the Welsh assembly Government) can be used to report many types of incidents. It can be used by parents, carers and young people.

You can also report incidents to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection command (CEOP).
CEOP is a command of the National Crime Agency and is dedicated to tackling the sexual abuse and exploitation of children and young people. CEOP helps children and young people under the age of 18 who have been forced or manipulated into taking part, or are being pressured to take part, in sexual activity of any kind. This can be both online and offline. The CEOP Safety Centre offers information and advice for children and young people, parents and carers and professionals. You can visit the CEOP Safety Centre and make a report directly to CEOP by clicking the Click CEOP button. Online bullying or other online concerns should not be reported to CEOP and children and young people should be directed to speak to an adult they trust, and/or referred to Childline, if they would like to speak to someone about how they are feeling.
In addition, if your child is experiencing online bullying then Childline website provides good advice on what to do next as well as live support if needed. Many activity packs have been created for parents and carers to use to help children understand the dangers of using the internet and how to avoid them. These can be accessed through the Thinkyouknow website. There are worksheets available for different age groups and there is a Parent and Carer help sheet that includes further information on internet safety. These activity packs are changed on a regular basis.
